On Friday April 1st, 2010 my immediate family had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Ogden Temple one last time before the reconstruction began. Well, of course when you are planning to attend the temple something always has to go wrong. Shawn and I left early from our home to make sure we were there on time. If you knew my dad, being on time is a HUGE thing for him. As we came out of Sardine Canyon we were noticing a lot of traffic getting off the freeway. Approaching the overpass to get on the freeway we notice traffic was at a complete standstill heading southbound. Oh Great!!! was all I could think. We turned around and headed for the old highway to see if we could get around the accident. Fifteen minutes later we made it 2 miles. Crazy? YES! it took us that long to turn around on the overpass and make it back to the light to turn onto the old highway. After sometime, I was starting to get frustrated, upset, and just plane mad. How often do you get the opportunity to have your WHOLE immediate family in one sealing room together? Not very!! My family (parents, sibling and their spouses) were all meeting at 6 pm to get a picture then do 80 names for sealing at the temple. Well, Shawn and I pulled into the parking lot at 6:25 having 5 minutes to change and be ready. We made it!!! Was all I could think at that time. As I entered into the temple, it was amazing the overcoming peace I had knowing that I was here for a reason. That reason came later as I sat with my family taking part in such a strong spiritual event. To see that look on both of my parents faces, knowing now that both of their fathers are sealed to their parents for eternity. Was worth it all. I knew many of the people and names that we had done! Which made it that much more meaningful. I am so grateful for the gospel and the atonement.
